Follow the Yarra River
North Bank taking in many historical
locations
including:
○ Enterprise Park
– founding site of
Melbourne 1835
○ Aboriginal Heritage
○ Site of
'Turning Basin' and
Shipping
“from quiet pastoral port to Gold Rush city”
○ Eureka Tower view to contrast from
gold rush times to present.
Early Yarra Turning Basin
● Visit the site of the former
Western Market and the statues of Melbourne's
Founders, John Batman and John Pascoe Fawkner.
*A rest stop can be taken here if required by
students as there is plenty of space and seating.
●Explore the interior of the ANZ Bank. This gothic heritage listed 1800's
building has one of the most ornate interiors in
Australia, and possibly the world.
● Visit another 100 year old Banking Chamber, now surrounded by
a modern office building. An amazing contrast of old
and new architecture.
●Theatre District including the 1929 Regent Theatre
picture palace and 1839 Athenaeum Theatre. |
